Setting myself up for my daughter’s fifth birthday celebration was a difficult task, but it was very important to her, so it was also very important to me.
Even though this is totally off topic for this website, it might still be entertaining or helpful, even if it’s only to make fun of my terrible cake designing abilities.
I looked all over the internet for a recipe—or recipes, really—but they all led to either spam websites or really complicated and just plain odd websites.
However, I eventually did, and it was undoubtedly very well-liked! Let’s help you create an amazing princess theme cake for your daughter’s birthday.
RECIPE 1
Ingredients
- 200 g butter (softened)
- 1 1/2 cups caster sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups self-raising flour
- 1 cup milk
For decoration
- 300 ml thin cream
- 1 tbs caster sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Here’s How You Can Make It
Step 1
Turn the oven on to 180°C. Scatter 1 tablespoon of flour over the cake tin after liberally greasing it with butter. To ensure equal coating, move the tin around and throw away any leftover flour.
Step 2
Beat butter in an electric mixer for two minutes until it becomes creamy and pale. One third at a time, add the sugar, beating thoroughly in between. Beat for approximately one minute after each addition of eggs. Beat in the vanilla essence until incorporated. Add half of the sifted flour to the butter mixture along with half of the milk, and beat until thoroughly blended. Continue with the remaining milk and flour.
Step 3
To catch any excess, spoon the mixture into the tin, set it on a baking rack, and bake it for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center of the princess theme cake comes out clean. After 15 minutes of cooling in the tin, use a knife to release the edges, then move to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Step 4
Cut a hole in the new skirt top and trim the base of the skirt (the top of the cake) using a serrated or bread knife so it sits flat. You could cut out a longer hole and preserve Barbie’s legs, but I chopped off the legs of an unfortunate Barbie and made a tiny hole in the top. Don’t worry, our Barbie was reassembled following the celebration!
Step 5
To decorate, whip cream until firm peaks form, adding sugar and vanilla. Put ¾ of the cream into the piping bag and connect a star piping nozzle to it. Squeeze cream into bowl until you obtain an even ‘flow’ from the nozzle. Leave spaces for the pink portions of the skirt when you pipe stars in long triangle shapes onto the cake.
Any remaining cream should be squeezed into the bowl. To the leftover cream, add a few drops of red coloring and stir until the color is uniformly pink. Pipe in the remaining pink skirt panels and the princess’ bodice, carefully turning your head away when necessary.
RECIPE 2
Ingredients
- 1 white cake mix any brand
- 2 packages of white chocolate pudding. . vanilla can be subbed
- 4 cups cold milk
- 1 tub of whipped topping.
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil heavy whipping cream can be subbed
- Pink and purple food coloring
- Pink and purple Wilton’s candy melts. you can use white chocolate and add food coloring to it
- Pink and purple colored sugar (optional)
Here’s How You Can Make It
- Prepare the white cake mix in a medium mixing bowl or stand mixer as directed on the container.
- Divide the mixture equally between two bowls.
- In one bowl, add a small amount of purple food coloring until the desired hue is achieved. Continue using the pink coloring.
- Blend coloring until it’s smooth and fully combined.
- Coat a 9 x 13 baking pan. In the pan, spoon your colored cake mix in haphazard “plops.”
- Create swirl patterns in the mixture with a wooden toothpick or skewer. Try not to “over swirl” because your cake will not display its pattern properly.
- Bake as directed on the packet, then let it cool fully.
- Using the round end of a wooden spoon, poke holes into the cake when it has cooled.
- As directed on the package, prepare both pudding boxes. Cover the cake with the pudding. It will create a thin layer on top of the cake and fill in the holes you made.
- Fill two different basins with candy melts. Fill each bowl with 1 tablespoon of heavy whipping cream or vegetable oil.
- Melt in the microwave at 30-second intervals until melted entirely, then stir until smooth. In any desired pattern, drizzle the melted candy over the cake’s top. Allow to cool.
- Evenly cover the cake’s top with the whipped topping.
- You can top the cake with colored sugar or sprinkles if you’d like.
- Refrigerate for approximately 60 minutes or until set.
Some Handy Tips for Decorating Cake
- As you decorate, clip up the doll’s hair or any other decorations.
- When decorating, use a princess theme cake plate. Turning while piping will be simpler as a result.
- To prevent the frosting from drying out, separate it into bowls, color it with food coloring, and then cover with a moist towel until you’re ready to use it.
- Until you feel comfortable making your own designs, practice piping on wax paper. A fantastic piece about easy piping techniques to attempt may be found here.
- Use the craft store’s gel food coloring. Compared to the water food coloring from the grocery store, these kinds of food coloring are far better. Brighter hues and the ideal shade to complement your princess will be provided.
- Add powdered sugar a small amount at a time if you discover that your buttercream frosting is too thin.
